A gentleman wrote that he would appreciate help with "the military history of LCDR James McQueen Leslie, USNR, who served in World War II. Information indicates that his father, James Leslie, was buried in Magnolia Cemetery, January 3, 1935. Also, that the Leslie and McQueen families are inter-related and have a long period of residence in DeFuniak Springs. The reason for my research is to add LCDR Leslie to the Navy Log for a permanent record of his service. It is known that he served on an Aircraft Carrier in the Pacific Theater during WW II and saw considerable combat." The Navy Log is an online records database you can access at www.navylog.org/. I sent the gentleman photographs of two stones at Magnolia (see below): a combined stone for the parents (James R. Leslie, 1884-1935, and Cora M. Leslie, 1882-1945) and one for Alice E. McQueen, 1873-1953. Bill Vorwald at the Vote in Honor of a Veteran program ( supervisorofelections.co.walton.fl.us/VoteInHonorOfAVeteran.htm) has searched his records without finding anything on James McQueen Leslie. Please reply to this message if you have clues or suggestions. Diane HD#13
