Please help this gentleman if you can. I am researching a paternal great grandfather, one Charles August Sickert, a German immigrant, who I have located residing in the Argyle Precinct at the 1930 Federal Census. According to family legend he operated a poultry farm somewhere near DeFuniak Springs. He lost the farm during the Great Depression and returned penniless to California where he resided temporarily with his son before spending the last several years of his life "pocket mining" for gold in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
I [have] learned that there had been at one time a small immigrant German community in Walton County. There had also been a "German Club." I note on local maps there is a German Club Road which would seem to reflect that same information.
[Are there] any archival records of the German Club such as membership rosters, meeting notes, etc? Or are there any other records of which you are aware that might assist me during an onsite visit in identifying the location of my great grandfather's former residence?
Thank you for any help with this query. Diane HD#50

We have been told the German Club was founded in 1931 and was disbanded in 2001.
