A local would like to know the history of the house located at 378 South 12th Street, DeFuniak Springs.

I have seen this property referred to as the Bell House. And a land record from 1895 list Dawn Bell as the owner. I have not been able to find any information to confirm Dawn Bell. Has any other information been found since this was originally posted in 2014?

Thank you for that information, timb. That query was left at the Walton County Heritage Museum years ago. To the best of my knowledge, no one else has responded but these boards are checked frequently, so your participation is appreciated!

1901-1904 property taxes paid by S.B. Mead(e)
1905-1936 property taxes paid by W.A. Gaede
Sometime between 1936 and 1963 W.A. Gaede transferred the property to his daughter, Bernice Gaede.
1964 property taxes paid by Bernice Gaede, and the property was in her possession till she passed 5 Jan 1987
Marjorie Dawn Thomason born 1946
Married Francis Michael Manning 31 Jan 1976
William Green sold the home from the estate of Bernice Gaede 29 Apr 1987 to Marjorie and Francis.
Marjorie and Francis open a mortgage for 25,000.00 on 1 May 1987 (503 South 12th Street)
Divorce - Marjorie and Francis 9 Feb 1989
Francis filed a quit-claim deed on 28 Feb 1991
Marjorie married Danny Ray Bell 29 Jul 1994
Divorce - Marjorie and Danny Ray Bell 7 May 1997
Dawn Bell (Marjorie Dawn Bell) is listed as paying off the mortgage 13 Jun 1997
The house number was changed around 1997 from 503 to 378
