The Walton County Heritage Museum has been given a beautiful postcard collection that belonged to a woman from Darlington. Her maiden name was Mary Geoghagan. She married a man named Luke Parrish, and they had a daughter named Mary Pearl Parrish. (The spellings differ a bit on various cards.) The postcards start 100 years ago and go into the WWII era. There are also some photographs but, unfortunately, there are no names on the back of them.
Butch Lawrence of Prudential Merrifield & Pilcher Real Estate believes the Parrish family may have owned a mill in Gaskin. Some of the postcards are addressed to Gaskin, so that may be correct. Any information will be greatly appreciated. The woman who donated the collection is 92 years old and would love to know more.

Butch Lawrence came to my rescue (again!) and wrote, "When I was a boy the Parrishes owned a chufa mill in Gaskin. It was on the left right before you get to Pridgen's store. There is a repair shop there now. It was right behind a store operated by Vertis Truett."
Butch went the extra mile and took me out to the mill site. I'll post photos of it one of these days. He and Kenneth Pridgen believe the daughter, Mary Pearl Parrish, lives in Chipley, so perhaps I'll get to meet her and show her the postcards.
Thanks, Butch!
