I am under contract to write a pictorial history of the coastal areas of Walton County, which will include all of what we now call South Walton and the North Bay communities such as Bruce, Freeport, and Choctaw Beach. While you are looking through old photographs with friends and family over the holiday season, please consider letting me use your photos in the book and/or donating copies to the Walton County Heritage Museum’s collection. Owners of photographs in the book will be given credit for their contributions. I am especially interested in photographs showing people, places, and events from pre-1900 through pre-2000. I can make digital scans of your photographs at a location convenient for you, so you never need to lose sight of them.
Of course, the Museum will always gratefully accept Walton County photographs from any era and location!
Thank you!
Diane

I hvae a really poor photo of Baron Dekalb Rushing and his wife Sirena taken around 1900.I'm not sure if its in good enough shape.I'll scan it and see how it turns out. Sirena was an Indian rumored to have been found by the Rushings while her family was being marched to a reservation.
