Looking for information on Powell family who lived in DeFuniak Springs starting around 1900's. Maria Powell from Canada, her son William T. born in Michigan, her daughter Mary Powell McCrackin born in Michigan. They are buried in Magnolia Cemetery along with William's wife Leola Cumbee Powell, Infant Powell, and Merwin (also member of family). I just can't seem to find any death record for Maria Powell. Headstone says died 1922. She was living in Dallas, Tx in 1920. But she is buried back in Florida. I just don't know where to look. I've tried Texas Death Index and Florida Death Index. I don't know what funeral home would have been used back then so I can't check out those records. Anyone who can't point me in the right direction or has ANY information on my Great Great Grandmother Maria Powell please let me know. Children of Maria Powell were (Mary, Albert, Ben, Addison, William, Rebecca, William). Thank you.

Ginette,
If you like, I can check at City Hall to see if they have any additional information. The city owns and manages Magnolia Cemetery. I can also go to the Walton County Courthouse and see if there is an obituary for her. The courthouse has all of the old newspapers in bound volumes. Do you have a more specific date than just 1922? If that fails, the most likely funeral home is still in business although by another name. I believe they have all of the old records, but I don't have an "in" with them. Knowing her religion might help because I could also check with the most likely church for records of her funeral.
Best wishes,
Diane
